LUKE THOMPSON DELIVERS HIS FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM ‘INFATUATER’

Today Luke Thompson delivers his fifth studio album ‘INFATUATER’.

A self-proclaimed misinterpretation of the 80s, Thompson drew on influences from his childhood when the accidental album came about. Written in the midst of a national lockdown, having stumbled on a particular Electric Piano sound, the artist explains “something just kind of opened up in me and all of a sudden I wanted to lean into these musical tendencies I had spent my life trying to suppress.”

The predominantly known Folk artist explained his shift in genres wasn’t a complete shock, but a full circle moment. “I think when I was younger I wouldn't have dared to make something like this, I would have felt compelled to stay in my lane. But the more music I make and the more songs I write the more interested I am in exploring any itch that I have as an artist.”

The atmospheric album is full of strange drum sounds, squealing feedback, no hi hats, messy acoustic guitars, pitched background vocals, over the top momentary guitar solos and risk taking synths. Discussing his love for both genres, he explains “The folk music I fell in love with was the polar opposite to the slick pop music I had heard so much from the back seat singing with my brother and sisters. Folk music was raw, restrained and sometimes broken. Pop music was bold, powerful, loud and precise.”

“So that is some of the story of how I ended up with this bizarre little record that I didn't see coming. Apparently it was destiny. I can’t wait for you to hear it.”
